Event Showcase | A Taste of Australia

When planning events for international visitors, Australia’s landscapes, cities and culinary delights offer event planners a platform to create exceptional events. There is a plethora of amazing venues and locations to host guests. There is ample fresh produce and culinary talent to create delicious menus and present food that will impress and delight guests from anywhere around the world – even us locals!
So, in this event showcase we take a look at an event hosted in Sydney for a group of top performing sales executives from the US and Canada. The theme for the event was Odyssey – Taste of Australia and it gave the event caterers, Create Events an opportunity to showcase everything that Australia has to offer on the plate. 

The event was hosted in a clear-sided marquee at Fleet Steps in the Royal Botanic Garden, one of Sydney’s most impressive marquee locations. 
The brief from event organisers, Arinex, to Create Events was to create something that has never been seen before, that would showcase the great products and produce of Australia. To do this, Create Events produce a series of food stations, bars and roving canapes that would highlight the best of Australia’s produce – sending the guests on a food odyssey for the evening. 
In addition to the catering, the Create team also took the lead on the event styling and creative for the evening. 
The result was pretty impressive and guests were truly wowed by the location, the views and most importantly… the food journey!

There were eight food stations including an oyster shucking shack, prawn shed, sashimi shop, espresso martini coffee cart bar, Haigh’s Chocolate wall, a wine and cheese barrel bar, and the most impressive Jacaranda and tumbleweed dessert garden – what a delicious, visual treat!

Highlights of the Australian theme styling included using vegemite jars with candles, Australian fauna, origami koalas and Mick Fanning’s surfboard on display. The team also created personalised etched boards, personalised outdoor rugs and branded tables to add to the one-off experience.

A real Aussie treat was the Thong Bar (aka flip flops for all the non-Aussie’s reading this), where guests could “trade-in” their heels for the evening. 
There were also real Aussie animals on hand, including koalas that guests could cuddle. 
There was even a private outdoor market featuring a range of Australian goods which the guests took great pleasure strolling through at their leisure. 
The theming was all bespoke and made by Creates Events team for this event.
