Getting to know Chloe Lesage

Chloe LesageMeet Chloe Lesage. Currently the Assistant Restaurant Manager of Matteo Sydney, including Matteo Downtown and Matteo Double Bay Chloe always expects the unexpected. She loves to recreate a client's vision of their event and believes more is always more. Chloe is not afraid to stand out in a crowd and loves a glass of bubbles. 

Give us a snapshot of your career to date

I went to Hospitality school in France while working in Michellin star restaurants over there. When I turned 18, I moved to Dubaii to work on the opening team of the First French restaurant in Dubai. Here, I got the chance to work my first job in events and marketing, managing large bookings. I continued doing this a few years later in a village just outside of Monacco called Eze. Later, I moved to Sydney working back on the floor in some amazing restaurants before finally taking my role as assistant restaurant manager at Matteo Downtown, where we host many amazing corporate events.

The most memorable event you worked on and why?

A few weeks ago we hosted an exclusive event for 200 people where the entire restaurant was transformed into a French saloon. It was a totally different vibe to the normal restaurant.

What did you 'learn the hard way' when planning an event?

Always expect disaster and be prepared!

What are three personality traits that are required to succeed in the events industry?

-       Organisation
-       Creativity
-       Patience

If you could share one piece of advice to those starting out in the industry what would it be?

Don’t be shy to do something different to stick out from the crowd – That’s what makes an event really great!

How do you unwind after a big event?

After a big event, I like to take the morning to myself and get breakfast with friends before hitting the ground running again for dinner service!

What is your biggest challenge at the moment?

Planning Melbourne cup! Its one of our favourite days of the year. It will be huge but requires lots of hard work from the whole team!

Favourite restaurant?

I love Catch, Dubaii – The vibe is like big a summer party and the energy is contagious! It reminds me a little bit of Matteo Double Bay

Best event you’ve been to as a guest?

Dom Perignon event at the MCA 2 years ago. I love champagne

What do you prefer, cocktail party or sit-down dinner?

Cocktail for sure! I love loud music and walking around and talking to people at a party.

Best fashion tip?

Wear clothes that would make you trust yourself

Favourite party theme?

Its super cliché but I love the mystery of Masquerade

Flats – be ready for the worst, remember!
