Who LOVES attending a #foodie event? A chance to be wined and dined - to taste and savour some of the best food and wine available… Ah, we do! 
 
This week we take a look at a delectable event hosted during the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, created by the team at the Marriner Group. Showcasing... Truly, Madly, Deeply Melbourne Part Three.

The Venue

Truly Madly Deeply is a food event hosted by the Marriner Group at their venue, the Plaza Ballroom, during the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival.
 
For the third year running, this sold-out event gives guests an opportunity to dine in one of Melbourne’s (and Australia’s) finest ballrooms and enjoy a delectable five course degustation menu with matched wines and beers.

The Event

The event consisted of two main areas; the Plaza Market Garden and the elegant dining area. 
The Festival’s theme of ‘community’ was enhanced by the Plaza Market Stalls, where guests were treated to tastings from local Producers whose produce was also included in the degustation dining menu.
 
Guests could engage with the stall holders whilst listening to the busker guitarist, all set within a farmer’s market style garden.
 
There was also a Beer Bar, for sampling Two Birds Beer, which is not only a local Melbourne brewery, but also Australia’s first female-owned brewery. 
 
The dining room was set-up with long banquet tables and was revealed behind a sheer drape before the commencement of the dinner. Edible centrepieces incorporated fresh produce into the floral displays to compliment the overall theme of the night.

The Food & Wine

In addition to the Producer Market Stalls, guests were treated to a 5-course degustation menu with matched wines. Here’s a peek at the menu…
 
Breaking Bread
Old ferment rye bread with our own churned butters; crème fraiche, kale, and wattle seed

Lardo wrapped scallops with scallop dashi, Jerusalem artichoke and yuzu

Flinders Island wallaby with yolk emulsion, macadamia and native flavours, smoked potato crisps

Sher wagyu beef two ways; seared sirloin (MS 8+) and peppered brisket (MS 9+) with variations of mushroom

Young coconut granita, mango and kaffir lime

Goat’s milk panna cotta, salt baked pineapple and walnut streusel with candied beets, Rooftop Honey pearls, and beetroot and passionfruit sorbet
 
The Exception Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc 2015
 
Extra produce was gifted to Second Bite, a food rescue organisation helping to feed the homeless fresh, nutritious food.
