Networking Events for Event Professionals

A question I get asked a lot (like seriously, all-the-time) is:

Do you know of any good networking groups?

The question usually comes from keen-as-mustard types who loves getting out there and meeting new people, learning new ideas and making good connections.

For the most part of my career I’ve been one of those people too. In the past I would have attended at least one networking event a week (sometimes more!). However, times have changed for me personally, and at the moment, I have cut back due to a little person in my life (I’ll be back, I promise).

Regardless of my own personal circumstances, I have noticed that the networking scene has changed since I started attending them over a decade ago. There are still a few good industry related groups around, but there are also a growing number of other groups that are excellent places to meet like-minded people and make new connections.

As an industry that thrives on getting people together face-to-face, it is so important for Event Managers, Business Development Managers, Sales Managers and Business Owners – young or old – experienced or fresh from school – to get out there to meet, mingle and…. network the old fashion way! Face-to-Face. In person. With a handshake or a high-five, whatever takes your fancy.

So, get out of your Facebook groups, stop stalking new connections on Linkedin and enjoy getting to know your next great connection face-to-face at some of these networking events…

AIME

Not a networking group as such, but for the business events industry this is one of the best networking opportunities of the year. This annual event draws in a LOT of people from Australia and the Asia-Pacific region to Melbourne for three days.

2019 marks the first year that the event will be organised and run by Talk2Media and Events, who have promised there will be more and better networking opportunities – yay! So if you’re not registered to attend yet, hurry – it’s on 18-20 February 2019.

To register for AIME head to their website: https://aime.com.au

P.S. If you’re going, let us know – we’ll be there too and we would love to catch up!
