Entertaining in Winter on Sydney Harbour

Winter in Sydney is glorious. With its mild climate and sunny days, there is no excuse not to enjoy the gorgeous Harbour and its beaches all year around. In fact, it is a great time to take advantage of the specials on offer at harbour venues and celebrate in style for a lot less than in the peak summer season.

One company that recently made the most of entertaining during Sydney’s glorious winter was InterRISK, when they celebrated their 10th Anniversary at Public Dining Room in Balmoral.

Located right on Balmoral Beach, Public Dining Room is a modern, bright venue ideal for special occasions. Renowned for their fine dining, relaxed ambience and idyllic location, there is no denying it is a great place to entertain all year round.

Getting to Balmoral from the City can seem daunting for a corporate group – it’s across the bridge! However with the help of a fleet of water taxis (that can accommodate up to 22 guests each), the venue is less than 20 minutes away from Circular Quay. The journey is not only fast, but scenic too!

Stepping off the boat onto Balmoral pier, with the winter sun shining, the InterRISK’s staff were already enjoying themselves, having started the day’s experience 20 minutes earlier. On arrival guests were greeted with drinks and canapés which they enjoyed on the venue’s outdoor terrace – heated in the cooler months.

Guests were then seated for a long leisurely lunch and enjoyed a 3-course menu with a choice of four dishes per course – a great benefit of hosting an event at a restaurant is the ability to offer guests an a la carte menu, rather than a set menu.

Speeches, a comedian and a rolling montage of images from the past ten years of InterRISK’s history entertained guests as they enjoyed the relaxed, yet sophisticated hospitality of the Public Dining Room.

The restaurant’s stylish and modern interiors, highlighted by the stunning views of the beach meant very little decorating was required by the organisers. Coupled with the venue’s excellent service, hosting an event at Public Dining Room is very easy.

For a few hours the InterRISK group were away from the office, away from the hustle and bustle of the city and transported to a place where they could relax and celebrate together.

This event is not an example of an over the top extravaganza, but it is a great example of how you can use Sydney Harbour’s unique locations and year-round versatility to host a special occasion with a sense of style. The event was stress-free to plan, easy to attend and enjoyed by all.
