Meet Amy Tran. Currently the Corporate Event Sale Manager at Trippas White Group, Amy suggests that those starting in the industry need to take initiative and be creative, and never stop learning. Give us a snap shot of your career to date.
I’ve worked in various roles within several different companies including Toga Hospitality, The Star Sydney, International Convention Centre, Events Hospitality Entertainment, Merivale and now Trippas White Group.
The most memorable event you have worked on and why?
Large Technology Company Christmas Party- which exceeded over 1400 guests at Centennial Homestead. This was our largest event to date 😊
What did you ‘learn the hard way’ when planning an event?
To always triple check the venue availability…. This will avoid any double-booking!!
What are three personality traits that are required to succeed in the events industry?
Patience, communication and initiative.
If you could share one piece of advice to those starting out in the industry what would it be?
Take initiative and be creative, and never stop learning.
If you could plan an event anywhere in the world where would it be and why?
Los Angeles – this my favourite place to visit!
If you had to choose one meal to eat for the rest of your life what would it be?

Where do you go for creative inspiration?
Anything Japanese, but currently Sokyo.

What’s your drink of choice at an event?
Gin & Tonic or Red Wine
Best event styling tip?
Good lighting and less is more.
What is the craziest request you have ever had when planning an event?
A seated event for owners and dogs with the dogs having their own seat and bespoke menu 😊
