Father’s Day Sorted with these Local Gifts Supporting Regional NSW
DO NOT PANIC, it’s not too late to get your Dad a gift and it’s certainly not too early to think ahead for Christmas. The team at Parliament of New South Wales have come to your rescue with their newly updated gift store – phew.
So, what’s this all about? Let us tell you!
Jonathan O’Dea – current Speaker of the House, thought the usual tacky assortment of trinkets in your average gift shop were a bit naff (our words not his) and so he set about revamping the gift shop at Parliament of New South Wales to stock gorgeous products from all around the great state of NSW. He wanted to see products from regional and rural Australia that had heart and soul AND to in turn help local artists and farmers who have been severely impacted by the events of 2020 – including bush fires, floods and the current pandemic.
We commend him for this notion (political it may be) and also applauded him for his brilliant appointment of Pip Brett to help curate the range.
If like us, you had never heard of Pip Brett until just now, shut the door and turn your Instagram on!
Turns out Pip is a bit of a homewares/ gift shop extraordinaire and has an awesome store in Orange called Jumbled. Taking one look at her own online store and Instagram, we’re immediately sold that the range of gifts at the Parliament of New South Wales store are going to be gold.
Gifts include a selection of locally sourced organic candles from Meeraboo Soy Candles, raw honey from Maya Sunny Honey, organic skincare products from Pukara Estate, greeting cards and photography books from What Does A Farmer Look Like?, Indigenous artists such as Nadeena Dixon Art, plus a range of local wine, gin, whisky and rum (yum!).
So, if you too want to help out a business that’s being doing it tough in 2020 buy your next gift (Father’s Day, Birthday, Anniversary, Christmas) from the Parliament of NSW Gift Shop.
P.S. The team at NSW Parliamentary Catering wanted to say Hello… They’re not able to host events at the venue currently, but along with helping to manage this gift shop, they have also been busy making 1000’s of meals a day for OzHarvest. Awe, they’re such a great group of eventprofs.
