Why Your Business Should Exhibit at AIME 2020
All eyes were on Talk2 Media & Events last year as they took the role of Exhibition Organisers for our industry’s biggest annual event – AIME – for the first time. Many businesses sat on the sidelines in 2019 to “see how it goes” before committing to a stand. Many jumped at the chance to work with the “new crew” and for those event businesses, it paid off!
2019 was an excellent AIME for exhibitors, hosted buyers and general attendees (you can read our post-AIME2019 recap here) and, with the team deep into planning for 2020, it’s time you consider getting on board (or back on board) with exhibiting at Australia’s premier trade event for the meetings and event industry in the Asia Pacific region.
Let’s take a look at how the AIME team have revamped AIME into a must-attend trade show, providing you with great business opportunities and worthwhile ROI.
1. Affordable and Beautiful Stand Design… Yes, it’s possible at AIME!
One of the largest costs involved with exhibiting at a trade show is setting up a stand that will allow your business to;
- Look professional
- Highlight your business’ core services; and
- Conduct business comfortably
When faced with either making a traditional shell scheme stand meet these objectives, or having to budget for a full-scale custom stand – it’s easy to see why many businesses start to shy away from investing their budgets in exhibiting.
Not any more …. At AIME 2019 the team introduced the Embassy Stand – a modular exhibition booth unlike any others. It looks great, can be easily customised AND makes it much easier to tick off the objectives mentioned above without spending ridiculous amounts of money.
Designed by Decorative Events & Design, the Embassy Stands not only made the exhibitors look good, but the entire show floor looked and felt great. The walls of the Embassy Stands can be decorated by large print decals and, once you’ve added a bit of comfortable seating, you’re stand will definitely make your business proud.
However, if going all out and designed a large-scale custom stand is your thing, that is possible too.
Compared to any other show we’ve ever worked on – and there’s been many – what we liked the most was that even with a small embassy stand, without a bright decal (white walls only), businesses were still able to look smart, professional and conduct business in comfort.
2. Better Meetings, Less Time Wasters and More Business – You Beauty!
Being able to create an eye-catching, on brand exhibition stand is one thing. The real ROI on attending AIME comes with the access to qualified buyers.
The AIME team put a lot of effort into creating opportunities for you to connect with the right buyers. The feedback from exhibitors last year was very positive, although as expected some constructive feedback was given too. The Organising team have taken all this on board and are working even harder now to fine tune the meeting experience.
Within the exhibitor package you get:
- 32 pre-scheduled appointments with vetted buyers
- 2 evening networking events open only to exhibitors, hosted buyers, media and VIP guests
- 4 networking breaks on the show floor exclusive to exhibitors, hosted buyers and media
- Knowledge Exchange Program – a full day of personal and professional development with industry related content
In regards to the pre-scheduled appointments, the system they use allows exhibitors to set their own agenda. While one exists, the Organisers don’t rely on a fancy tech system for scheduling meetings – they also employ good old-fashioned legwork. They work closely with buyers and exhibitors to comprehend their needs and to assure the best meeting matches.
3. Networking Events – Admit it… It’s your favourite part of AIME, right?
The AIME Welcome Event has always been a highlight on the event industry’s calendar. In 2019, AIME stepped it up a gear by adding a second social event. Yes, that’s TWO great networking events as part of the overall AIME experience. And, it was a hit!
The Networking at AIME makes up for a large part of the value in attending. As an exhibitor you get the opportunity to network with the buyers in a more relaxed and casual setting. The events themselves are always top quality and it’s a great way to catch up with industry colleagues too.
Whether you agree or not, the Organisers are keen to keep the guest list to these events only for those participating at AIME as an exhibitor, hosted buyer or registered visitor (buyer) – and of course Media. This is to ensure maximum value for exhibitors and maximise their ROI on attending.
4. Extra Opportunities to Stand Out from the Crowd
If you’re really looking to stand out from the crowd at AIME, then there are plenty of opportunities to step up and engage with the AIME community. These can include;
- Partner with AIME to sponsor the Welcome Event or Social Event. It’s a great way to showcase your venue or product and give buyers a real experience of what you can offer.
- Host a breakfast or lunch in the famous Atrium (a hospitality space in the middle of the exhibition floor). Design a mini event to represent your brand or destination. Choose your guest list, theme, aesthetic, content and dazzle the AIME community.
- Be front and centre of the platform of local and international media attending AIME and sponsor the media lounge. Deck out the lounge according to your brand or destination.
- The Knowledge Program has numerous sponsorship opportunities across the three days. Monday – the Knowledge Exchange. Tuesday and Wednesday – the Ideas Academy on the show floor
- There are also plenty of brand exposure opportunities on signage and other event collateral
We were impressed with AIME 2019 and so were a lot of others. First year in and Talk2 Media & Events did an amazing job – especially impressing a typically hard group to please when it comes to hosting events. We’ve met with the team a few times since their inaugural show and their enthusiasm and drive to make AIME 2020 even better is exciting.
If you were sitting on the fence last year, now is the time to get involved. But don’t take our word for it, here are a few testimonials from exhibitors that attended AIME 2019.
“This year’s AIME surpasses my expectations, the organisation of the event, the aesthetics of the show, the appointments we had and the evening events were all world class and a clear improvement from previous years. I was able to obtain bookings directly from AIME and must say it’s the best event I have ever attended.”
Chris Rich – Corporate Group Sales Manager P&O Cruises, Carnival Australia
“At AIME 2019, we took an Embassy stand, which allowed us to represent our brand really well. We picked up an incentive group of 100 pax from the USA and a 1000 pax incentive group from China for a year travel, just to name a few. We felt the show delivered really well with high quality buyers and the networking events were amazing. We have already doubled our stand for AIME 2020 and really looking forward to coming back to Melbourne.”
Dov Bartak – Product & Relationship Manager, AVG Select Australia/Vietnam
“With its refreshing new look, I felt that AIME 2019 had the right mix of qualified buyers and media outlets. The format ensured that Business Events Sunshine Coast (BESC) and our destination stand partners were able to network with new contacts and meet up with established ones, both during appointments and program breaks. Post AIME, BESC reached out to attendees that were seriously considering the Sunshine Coast and has successfully secured new events for the region.”
Maureen Brennan – Business Events Manager, Business Events Sunshine Coast
